CLASSROOM ART PROJECT COLLAGES AND POSTERS FOR AUCTION:
I have 20 kids in my classroom and want to create an art project for our school auction. Can I put all their drawings together in one poster? Yes! A collage of your kid's artwork makes a great poster. Kid's Art Project can place many separate drawings and paintings together on a poster to create a varied display of your children's artistic talents. Classroom art projects and auction posters are typical collages. There's no limit to the number or kind of art. Placing multiple pieces of individual art into a poster design requires an additional charge of $7 each.
Can I save money if I paste up the collage myself and send it to you as a whole piece?
Yes, you can save money if you physically paste the collage together yourself. Use a poster board of any color and make sure the collage is glued well and is relatively smooth. No 3D objects like beads or buttons when you paste up the collage yourself. 22"x28" poster board is perfect. Please note that reproducing artwork longer or wider than our 22"x28" standard size will be subject to an additional charge. Call us at 425-861-9400 if you have ny questions.
What size should the kid's art be? If you are pasting up the collage yourself, the art needs to be small enough to fit them all on the poster board. Don't be concerned about losing clarity if the art is enlarged or reduced on the poster reproduction. You won't. 3"x3" is a good size but it depends on what you have and how many. Remember, you are putting the collage together so use any size or shape that works for you.
If you are sending individual pieces, please make them 12"x18" or less.
What medium should I use and how do I paste them on the poster board? Any medium is fine but try to avoid using neon highlighter colors or metallics like gold stars or glitter. These items don't reproduce very well. Markers, crayons, paint, colored pencil, watercolors, colored construction paper, etc. are all great mediums. Photographs are wonderful, too!
Paste your art within the confines of the poster board you are using with a glue stick or spray glue (non permanent). Don't overhang the edges. You can tape two pieces of poster board together if you need a bigger canvas.
Try to use a colored board that you might like to see on your poster. It doesn't have to be exact - we can change the color digitally - but it's a good idea to start with your vision. If you don't have a preference, use a color that contrasts with the art (i.e. if the art has lots of white around the edges, DON'T use white board. Any other color will do.
How do I ship my classroom's collage? The simplest way is to flatten a cardboard box, slip the poster board collage inside and tape up the edges. Don't worry about bending unless the art is really fragile. Use an extra piece of cardboard and mark the package if it is. Trim the edges of the cardboard to fit the art closely so you don't spend more on mailing than you have to. Consider your labor time and the cost of shipping vs. sending individual pieces. You might find the add art charge of $7 is a bargain.
Can I send you a digital file (CD or JPEG) of the art? Of course! This is a great way to save on shipping the original art. All file types can be used. Individual image files still require a $7 add art charge but a digital photo or your pasted up collage works great and saves you money.
INDIVIDUAL ART POSTERS:
My child uses lots of different materials. What kind of art can be used? Just about anything, from flat art on paper to 3 dimensional objects. Original art is scanned or digitally photographed and then faithfully reproduced on the finished poster.
Can you make posters out of photographs? Sure! Photographs, just like hand drawn art, make wonderful posters. Sports photos make great posters (click here for more info sports posters) and landscapes look great as fine art prints.
How is my valuable original art handled? Original art can be delicate and is handled with great care during the reproduction process. It's returned to you in original condition with your finished project. HINT!: It's a good idea to keep the original art in a protective envelope and attached to the backing of the framed print so it will never be lost.
My child's art is a mess. Can you make it look better? Sometimes the pin holes, tears and scribbles are part of the original art's charm but a little digital cleanup and cropping can really help. Even colors can be enhanced. Just explain what you'd like done and we'll work with you.
I have an idea how I want my child's poster to look. What do I do? You can be involved in the creative process by answering the questions on the order form and using the blank design grid. Draw out your ideas and we will use them to create a design. One pre-press proof is included in the package and will be emailed to you. Your feedback is encouraged. Please provide your current email address.
What if I don't like the finished print? Kid's Art Project is confident you'll be happy with your child's poster. However, if you are not completely satisfied with the finished print, we will work with you to redesign it OR, return the poster and receive a 100% refund. No worries.
Can I order duplicate posters for relatives later? Absolutely! Your child's poster design will be archived indefinitely and duplicate prints can be ordered any time at a reduced price. See the price list or call/email for details.
How do I get my child's art to you and the finished print back? If you are mailing your artwork, be sure to adequately protect it from bending or folding. Fed-X and UPS mailers are great as well as mailing tubes for larger art. Your finished prints (framed or unframed) are shipped to you carefully packaged as well. See order form for rates.
